Summer Fruit Conference 2nd and 3rd August 2017

In the traditional Summer Fruit Technical Conference that is held every year at the Experimental Agricultural Station Mas Badia was treated different topics of interest for apple growers. The whole program was developed taking a tour of different field stations. In one of the field stops a thinning trial was visited and the results of the Greene prediction method were explained.
The prediction using fruit growth model assumes that if it is less than 50% of the growth rate of the fastest growing fruit during 4 to 7 days after thinning application, it will abscise (Greene, 2008). This method has been shown to be effective in supporting the decision making of the thinning program.
