Maintain the Quality of Nicoter/Kanzi®- apple through modern storage-technologies

The two storage technologies Dynamic Controlled Atmosphere and 1-MCP have been combined in order to reduce the storage damage at Nicoter/Kanzi®.The Dynamic Controlled Atmosphere foresees the reduction of Oxygen in the storage facility, which slows the ripening process down, while 1-MCP constrains the ripening. The experiment showed, however, that the combination of the two did barely lead to improvements of the storability. Some examples even showed that 1-MCP can lead to inner damages of the apples.
