Apple varieties and content of patulin in apple juice

Presentation of the project FaVOR-DeNonDe at Fruit rot workshop in March 2016.
The project FaVOR-DeNonDe will contribute significantly to new knowledge about the balance between desired and non-desired components in selected fruits and vegetables as well as how different processing techniques appropriate in organic production affect specific quality traits of fruits.
Different kinds of apple genotypes and organic processing techniques have been investigated to find out the impact on the quality of apple juice. Especially in terms of presence of health-beneficial phytochemicals and of mycotoxins, pointin out the attention on the presence of single phenols and patulin. The content of patulin varied in the different apple juices, and in some of them the concentration was critical.
