A new dwarfing to semi-dwarfing cherry rootstock has recently been made available to French growers. The first results from a level 1 evaluation trial set up in 2013 are promising. Krymsk 6 has rapid fruit setand its productivity is higher than that of Maxma 14. Anchorage can be a problem and trees grafted on this rootstock require a trellis for support on windy sites. With low vigour (30 to 70 % of Maxma 14), Krymsk 6 is well adapted to the fruit wall growing system and vigour can be controlled better in orchards that need to be protected from rain by plastic covers and from insects by nets.
