POMOSANO WEBSITE. http://pomosano.laimburg.it/

The research institute Laimburg carried out the Project Pomosano in the period between 2007 and 2015. Scientists have examined different apple varieties regarding their sanitary chemical substance (polyphenols, vitamins, fruit acid, sugar) and their savour characteristics. In addition, the apple varieties have been tested for their tolerance for allergic persons, and for their suitability for juices.
In the framework of the project, the research centre Laimburg created the POMOSANO website. This website provides detailed information on the origin, synonyms, consistency and on the agronomic profile of new, resistant, old and red fleshed apple varieties. The website informs on the taste of the apple juice made of the individual varieties.

On the welcome page of the website, the visitor can look for specific apple varieties according to 5 parameters: harvesting period (ranging from 12 weeks before to 8 weeks after the variety Golden Delicious), flowering season (early to late), body colour, size (very small to very big), taste (very sour to very sweet).
Once all the criteria are introduced, the conforming apple varieties are shown in a list with a photo. The website provides a bulletin for each variety, with the most important information ready to download. All the information derives from the perennial research and data collection of the research centre Laimburg.

Currently, the website contains information and photos of 100 apple varieties and is available in German and Italian, and we aim for the translation of the website into English.
