The Open Day Exhibition of new peach cultivars is an annual meeting addressed over the last 20 years to fruit growers and technicians of the main producing areas of Spain. The objective is to provide precise information about the agronomical performance and fruit quality from the testing program carried out by IRTA since 1996. More than 800 new cultivars have been tested over the last 20 years and the information recorded disseminated to the fruit industry. With more than 500 people is a reference day exhibition concerning new cultivar assessment and development. The cultivars presented have they origin in more than 12 breeding programs mainly from USA, France, Spain and Italy. Most of them are common characteristics as high colour, good fruit size, perfect skin finish and mainly sweet taste. The characteristics of 120 new varieties were provided to the assistants. In terms of the origin of the cultivars tested by IRTA the most important breeding programs are ASF, IPS (Zaiger Genetics, USA) and PSB Producción Vegetal.
