Modì, Kanzi, Jazz, Envy e Shinano Gold: Post-harvest behaviour

The steady growing market demand for new apple varieties poses to the actors of the fruit supply chain new challenges for the selection of the best apple variety to launch on the market conforming to the pedoclimatic condition of the different growing regions. In the last years, the post-harvest behaviour of the most interesting varieties for the South Tyrolean apple fruit growing area i.e. Civg198-Modì®, Nicoter-Kanzi®, Scifresh-Jazz®, Scilate-Envy® and Shinano Gold was investigated by the post harvest department at the Laimburg Research Centre. Conclusions are presented regarding the appropriate harvest window, the attitude to different post-harvest conditions and treatments, and the most relevant effects and benefits on the apple fruit quality after storage.
