Stakeholder Meeting Forum Obstbau: Physiology of pomefruits

During the stakeholder meeting Forum Obstbau, research results of a new chemical fruit-thinning agent called Brevis were introduced to the audience.
Brevis is a product that reduces the photosynthetic activity which leads to fruit drop due to a reduced supply of the trees with assimilates. The importance of application rates, application time (developmental stage) and the dependency on the impact of climatic parameters were pointed out in the context of Brevis.
Brevis has the potential to become in the future an important fruit thinning agent for pome fruit production, but experiences regarding dosage and application conditions have still to be investigated.
