Summer Fruit Conference 2nd and 3rd August 2017

In the traditional Summer Fruit Technical Conference that is held every year at the Experimental Agricultural Station Mas Badia was treated different topics of interest for apple growers. The whole program was developed taking a tour of different field stations.
The effect on bees of the use of neonicotinoids in pre and post - flowering of the apple tree was discussed. The results have shown that the residues found the products tested in both pollen and apple nectar are below the oral LD50 established by EFSA for each product. Parallel to these studies, further trials were carried out to find insecticidal products that could be used instead of the neonicotinoids by the control of aphids, and equally effective alternatives were found such as Azadirachtin and spirotetramat.
