Ra storage of Jonagold +/- 1-MCP () The eff ects of SmartFreshSM (1-Metylcyclopropene) and storage temperature on fruit quality were studied under regular air conditions. With decreasing storage temperature as well as by a SmartFreshSM treatment, the loss of fruit fi rmness and acidity were reduced signifi cantly. Depending on whether the fruits have been treated with SmartFreshSM or not, any temperature reduction of one Kelvin reduced the fruit fi rmness loss by 0,35 kg cm-2 or 0,51 kg cm-2 in 100 days and increase potential storage time of 38 or 14 days. Thus, a storage temperature of -0,5° C enable a storage time until end-December even without SmartFreshSM treatment, assuming 5,5 kg cm-2 as a minimum fi rmness for marketing. For SmartFreshSM treated fruits a storage time almost until end of March is possible if they were stored under the same storage temperature. |
