Danish fruit without spray residues

The project DAFRUS focuses on implementing a spray strategy that enables commercial production of apples without spray residues. The zero-residue strategy is based on optimal scab and insect control in the primary season from bud break to petal fall using standard pesticides. During fruit expansion up until harvest only natural pesticides allowed for organic production are used. The zero-residue strategy is currently being tested in 3 commercial orchards on 4 different varieties and the results from the first two years are communicated to the participating growers and orchardists taking part in the annual growers field day at one of the participating orchards.
