Publication: "Fire blight resistant pears in pilot trials" in Schweizer Zeitschrift für Obst und Weinbau (SZOW):
Fire blight-resistant pear varieties with regular yields and fruits of good eating quality that can survive a few months storage without damage are scarcely available on the market. Since 2005, the cultivation area for table pears has been reduced by 20%, with a turnaround since 2006. The three main varieties Conférence, Gute Luise and Kaiser Alexander are classified as highly susceptible to fire blight. The article presents results and experiences with new varieties.
