VI Jornada de Fructicultura de Muntanya, 22th September 2016

This open day is organized annually by IRTA in the mountain area of the Pyrenees, an area on the new plantings of apple started in 2009 with the aim to obtain high quality apples in terms of fruit colour development and eating quality. This is because the climatic conditions in altitude are more favourable to fruit colour development and fruit quality compared the traditional areas of apple production of Spain, with warm summers affecting negatively the fruit quality. During the open day, the results obtained about the performance of new cultivars were presented. In addition, the development of different strategies for commercialization were exposed, including in the last part a visit to experimental and commercial orchards.
