Technical Open day IRTA-Mas Badia: Jornada Fructícola estiu (Technical report)

In this report, the program of the Technical Open day and the whole information is included. We present the information about new Gala strains and rootstocks and also about new training systems in apples adapted to mechanization for blooming thinning, summer pruning and assisted harvest by the use of platforms. Concerning new Gala strains, the results about fruit colour, fruit size, yield and quality of 23 strains were provided and transferred to the fruit industry. ‘Brookfield Gala’ is still the reference strain but new, improved and more stable strains of ‘Gala’ have been released over the last 20 years, most of them with high, intense and uniform fruit colour. The information about those strains was disseminated to the fruit industry. Also in the same open day the performance of new rootstocks from the series, “G” and different training systems and thinning methods were presented.
