Determination of the harvest date - How exact can the harvest date of our regional apple varieties determine in advance? () Based on the phenological stage end of fl owering (BBCH67) of the very uniformly and safely fl owering apple variety Braeburn, the temperature sum to 50 days after fl owering and later the maturation of sweet cherries and early apple varieties a forecasting model for the harvest date for storable apple varieties in the Lower Elbe region has been developed. Thereafter, the picking date of important varieties like Holsteiner Cox, Elstar and Jonagold can quite accurately determine already at fl owering time with an error of about ± 4,5 days. 50 days later the forecast accuracy can be increased to ± 2 days taking into account the weather conditions, the maturity development of other fruit varieties and early ripening apple. Finally with the measurement of the starch content the exact harvest date of the concerned apple varieties can be determine. |
