Comparison of the costs of mechanical and chemical weed control.
The use of herbicides has been a standard procedure in fruit production for decades. In recent years, however, the sensitivity of the population to plant protection measures and herbicides has increased. Innovative companies have developed new machines for weed control in tree stips. However, these machines are usually more expensive to buy and use compared to herbicides. This article describes the economics of mechanical weed control in pome fruit production compared to herbicide use.
