Publication: Objectives of the variety testing at Agroscope.
The fruit variety testing at Agroscope aims at facilitating the choice of varieties for producers and retailers. The suitability for cultivation, performance and marketability of new varieties from all over the world are compared in order to find varieties with significant added value for production and trade as well as for the greatest possible customer satisfaction. Strengths and weaknesses of current varieties, desired improvements and current developments are continuously discussed with the industry. The independent examination of new varieties enables the continuous improvement of the Swiss assortment of fruits and thus the long-term competitiveness of the industry.
