Presentation at EUFRIN/EUFRUIT Meeting: "Alternative plant protection for the Swiss Fruit production"

At the EUFRIN/EUFRUIT Meeting in Belgium following trials to develop plant-protection strategies for the Swiss Fruit production were presented: low residue trials, exclusive netting on apples and regulation of Spotted Wing Drosophila on stone fruits.
The goal of the low residue apple trial is the reduction of chemical-synthetic pesticides, no detectable residues and production of 1st class fruits.
To control the pest insect Drosophila suzukii in cherry production three approaches are used: excluding (with nets), masking (with slaked lime) and distracting (with Combi protect and Spinosad) are used.
Exclusive netting can lead to a 50 % reduction from damage of codling moth.
