Once per year, the European stone fruit industry meets at Agroscope’s stone fruit center Breitenhof in Wintersingen, Switzerland. On a tour of the experimental site, producers and other industry representatives get an insight into the trials and other current topics concerning stone fruit production. Focal points this year were presentations on the functioning of leaf fertilization, the fight against the plum fruit moth (Grapholita funebrana) and the question of how cherries last longer. After ideal weather, harvest forecasts for Switzerland and other countries were high. In order to convince consumers with this high harvest, quality was the one topic that ran through the entire conference.
