The EUFRUIT Knowledge Platform is part of a European thematic network of 21 partners including research institutes, universities and industrial partners who represent keyparts of the fruit supply chain from 12 countries.
EUFRUIT Knowledge Platform is an international open access database of electronic documents related to productivity, sustainability and quality of fruit in the European fruit sector. New knowledge on fruit research and best practice approaches at a European level are available in the database. It is possible to search for information in a specific language.
Focuses are on four thematic areas of critical importance to competitiveness and innovation potential of the European fruit sector:

Master thesis defense: A critical analysis of quality assurance systems for fruit in GermanyOrganising/holding seminar/lecture-based workshop - Secure sustainable fruit production Abstract A German fruit producer is confronted with several requirements, which influence his production. A variety of stakeholders are active on the market that represent their interests. These are determined by the perspective of the production establishment, the state, the consumer, and the value chain in the form of food retailing. Quality assurance systems may be useful… |

Regulation of fruit abscission: Horticultural interventions and plant responsesOrganising/holding industry group meeting/event - Secure sustainable fruit production ABSTRACT Many perennial fruit trees typically bear an abundance of flowers and the resulting fruit set can be either excessive (apple) or extremely low (mango). In both cases, the regulation of flower/ fruit(let) abscission by mainly bloom or post-bloom thinning chemicals is necessary to maximize crop value and tree performance. The causes of fruit abscission are numerous,… |

SHE2016: III International Symposium on Horticulture in Europe: Reduced Energy Usage in Commercial Apple Storage with Improved Air CirculationParticipation in scientific conference - Secure sustainable fruit production Abstract Air circulation determines the homogeneity of the climatic conditions in an apple storage room. During one fruit storage season, the effect of changes in fan power on fruit quality parameters and energy demand for ventilation were investigated. Two identical commercial storage rooms (each 48 t) were used for experiments in 2015, one without and one with air deflection… |

SeminarOrganising/holding seminar/lecture-based workshop - Secure sustainable fruit production ABSTRACT Promoting an environmentally safe and economically competitive fruit tree industry in Europe is challenging because fruit production is fragile in front of global warming and is prone to alternate bearing, which is defined as a high cropping year followed by a low (or nil) cropping. Cropping irregularity is managed so far by thinning methods, chemical, mechanical or… |

Scientific conference: 1st International Symposium on Flowering, Fruit-set and Alternate Bearing, 18-23-Jun-2017; Palermo, Italy: Ecophysiology - the plant's adaptivity to changing environmentsParticipation in scientific conference - Secure sustainable fruit production ABSTRACT Temperate and (sub)tropical fruit trees are frequently exposed to changing environments, evoked by climatic factors or crop management practices. Fruit crops possess tremendous phenotypic plasticity, allowing them to respond sensitively to a range of environmental conditions by their ability to change certain traits. Such acclimatization capacity is associated with… |

XI International ISHS Symposium in "Integrating Canopy, Rootstocks and Environmental Physiology in Orchard Systems"Organising/holding seminar/lecture-based workshop - Secure sustainable fruit production Today different management systems are developed according to the prevailing ecological and socio-economic conditions. The subject of this symposium included many fruit and nut species as well as many disciplines required for systems approaches to address sustainability of deciduous fruit production under changing economic and climatic conditions. The symposium gathered… |
